I’ve been a member of the Harlow Parkinson’s Table Tennis club for nearly a year. I was made most welcome by Sandy and her team and I look forward to the club each  week. It has been a great opportunity to (hopefully) improve my Table Tennis skills and it is also helping to improve my balance, movement and confidence. No less important is the social aspect of the afternoon and opportunity to talk and exchange views with the other members and helpers.  I would thoroughly recommend playing Table Tennis for those with Parkinson’s . It has many benefits and is also fun!

Theresa, Harlow Group

Joining a table tennis club for Parkinson’s has been a bonus for my exercise and wellbeing.

The relaxed welcome to all is lovely to be a part of.  It doesn’t matter if people have never played before.

Social interaction can be difficult for people affected by Parkinson’s.  Somehow chatting becomes easier when batting a ball. Joining Harlow Parkinson’s Table Tennis gives me a reason to smile and make new friends.  I can really recommend joining a club near you.  Step forward and give it a try? Good luck.

Pam, Harlow Group

Having never played TT when I joined I now really look forward to our sessions at the end of the week. I might feel tired when I arrive but they are a lovely bunch of people and l soon feel energised and more mobile and it always puts a smile on my face

Participant, Harlow Group

Table tennis helps us develop coordination and balance, but there is also an important social side. Being with other people with Parkinson’s gives us the opportunity to talk and share experiences, and gives us strength to face the everyday challenges of Parkinson’s.

I would like to see table tennis made available to more people with Parkinson’s.

I’m proud to be co-chair of Parkinson’s England Table Tennis (PETT), which launched in July 2026. We are a volunteer-led organisation working in partnership with Parkinson’s UK and Table Tennis England to support and promote table tennis for people living with Parkinson’s across England. Whether you’re looking for a local group, interested in volunteering or simply want to learn more, I’d encourage you to visit the PETT website.
